The exact date may be unknown but, based on what is visibly present and what not, a rough indication can be given. The map shows the Hatfield railway line going all the way to what currently is the Abbey Station, which, so Sandy’s Sopwell History book tells me, only came about in 1923. And with the Mentmore estate missing from the map – Mentmore was built late thirties – I’d say “Exact date unknown, some time between 1923 and 1935”.
